About Us

ALS Consulting was founded in 2023 by Adam Smithurst, an AssocRICS qualified surveyor and RICS Registered Valuer.

Adam has over a decade's experience in residential surveying and the supply chain in the construction sector. Having gained an undergraduate degree in Architecture and Environmental Design, he went on to study for a Masters degree in Building Surveying, whilst working as an inventory clerk and Domestic Energy Assessor for a number of letting and estate agents in and around Nottingham.

Adam's career path expanded into the supply chain of commercial construction, where he was involved in the design and commercial inputs of varying schemes covering the healthcare, build-to-rent and hotel sectors to name a few.

In 2020, amidst the aftermath of the COVID pandemic, Adam decided to return to residential surveying in the form of new-build snagging, before transitioning to traditional property surveying and valuation. Adam became an Associate member of the RICS in 2022 and gained his Registered Valuer status in 2024 having enrolled through the highly reputable SAVA training programme for residential surveyors.

Adam founded ALS Consulting to provide a conscientious, friendly and high-value service across the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire border. As a RICS regulated, independent practice, you can be assured that our work is of the standard expected for you to make as informed a decision as possible.

Drones

Drone photography allows us to inspect areas of the property that are difficult to view from ground level, most notably roofs, chimney stacks and verges.

Camera poles

Action cameras mounted to extendable poles allows us to inspect hidden elements of the property like gutters, valleys, flashings and flat roofs.

We work with RICS tech partners to provide bespoke reports through purpose-built apps, speeding up the report writing process whilst maintaining quality.
